Dental implants

A natural-feeling way to replace a missing tooth, root and all.

Losing a tooth can feel like a big deal, and it's completely normal to wonder what comes next. Dental implants are one of the most reliable ways we have today to fill that gap and help your smile feel whole again.

What it is

A dental implant is a small titanium post that we gently place into the jawbone, where it takes over the job of a natural tooth root. Over a few months it bonds with the bone, and then we attach a custom-made crown on top that's shaped and colour-matched to look like your own tooth. The result is a replacement that feels stable when you eat and speak, and that you care for just like the rest of your teeth.

Signs it might be for you

  • You have one or more missing teeth, or a tooth that can't be saved and needs removing
  • A gap is making it harder to chew comfortably or speak clearly
  • You'd prefer a fixed solution rather than a removable denture or bridge
  • Your remaining teeth are starting to shift or tilt into the empty space
  • You're in generally good health and want a long-lasting, natural-feeling option

How it works at Bite

  1. 1
    A calm first consultation

We sit down, listen to what's bothering you, and take a proper look — usually with a 3D scan so we can see your bone and the space clearly. There's no pressure here; it's just an honest conversation about whether an implant is a good fit for you and what your options are.

  2. 2
    Planning your treatment

If an implant suits you, we map out exactly where it should go and check that the bone can support it well. We'll explain the timeline, the steps, and answer every question so you know what to expect before anything begins.

  3. 3
    Placing the implant

Under local anaesthetic, we gently place the titanium post into the jaw. Most people are surprised by how comfortable this is. You then go home to heal, and over the next few months the implant quietly bonds with your bone — this is the part that makes it so stable.

  4. 4
    Fitting your new crown

Once the implant has settled, we attach a custom crown made to match the shape and shade of your natural teeth. We check that it feels right when you bite, and adjust until it's comfortable. This is the moment your smile comes back together.

  5. 5
    Aftercare and check-ins

We show you how to keep your implant clean and invite you back for routine check-ups so we can make sure everything stays healthy for the long term.

Recovery & aftercare

Most people return to their normal day fairly quickly, with some mild swelling or tenderness for a few days that's easily managed with simple pain relief and soft foods. The implant then needs a few months to bond fully with the bone before the final crown goes on, so the overall journey takes time — but it's gentle and steady rather than dramatic. Keeping the area clean and coming to your check-ups gives your implant the best chance to last for many years.

Frequently asked questions

The placement is done under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn't feel pain during it — most people find it far easier than they expected. Afterwards you might have some tenderness or swelling for a few days, which usually settles with simple pain relief. If you feel anxious about it, please tell us; we're very used to helping nervous patients feel calm and looked after.
